John Hartman, 1953-2008
John Hartman, age 55, founder of North Ohio Norml and Ohio Cannabis Society passed away Feb. 7, 2008. I attached a picture of John Hartman with some of my thoughts. Beloved husband of Molly S. (nee Richards); dear brother of Walker Hartman and Anna Estep; loving son of John T. and the late Evelyn C. Hartman (nee Pay) dear uncle and victim of zero tolerance.
I am proud to say I had the opportunity to interact with John. We were part of panel discussion at a Libertarian conference discussing the shooting of Clayton Helriggle. I have come to understand that John Hartman was a much a victim of our Drug War as was Clayton. This is a war on Americans and should really be called Prohibition II.
Denying medical treatment due to a Drug War Chemical Loyalty oath in the form of a drug test, is really a cloaked death sentence. I hope someone can document John's being denied a life-saving transplant because of a Chemical Loyalty Oath.
His impact on our lives must not fade. I ask each one of you to pick up some part of John Hartman's mission and bring an end to this Drug War.
North Ohio Norml is collecting photos of John, I would encourage all that knew John to send your own to nonorml@netlink.net so we can all share and remember his contributions.
Rest in peace, John
